Newfoundland’s Jenina MacGillivray’s debut album Marion made its mark on critics and audiences alike, winning Music NL’s Factor Album of the Year, and receiving rave reviews throughout Eastern Canada where it was called “the real deal” (Roots Canada) and “possibly the most beautiful album of the year” (East Magazine). Jenina returns with Perseids, a full length LP recorded with Jake Nicoll (studio J) on either side of the Atlantic in Newfoundland and Portugal. Perseids is named for a mid August meteor shower and is steeped in nostalgia and hope, love for the natural world and friends, lyrically rich, specific and relatable.

“Perseids manages a unity in its contradictions: both light and heavy; local and universal in scope, nostalgic with an insistent attachment to the now; sung in a voice both strong and tremulous”  - Riddle Fence

The Jens Lekmans, Joni Mitchells and Leonard Cohens of the world are few and far between. Fortunately, Newfoundland has Jenina MacGillivray.” - Alex Cook

The East
